Restoration Update -
26th October 2008
JHA 227L
- Leyland Leopard
Well, alot has happened.
Restoration has commenced on this vehicle. The interior required a big, thorough
clean, and the exterior required a repaint. S Riley During October, S Riley
painted the exterior of the bus. The spray painted the poppy red, and hand
painted the white. Logos were applied between the 6th and 18th October. The
bus was hoping to attend Midland Red
Celebrations at Wythall on 12th October, however due to the lack of time, 227
was not complete. However, work
carried on the following week, and
227 made it's first debut for 20 years
at Aston Manor Transport Museum on 19th October 2008.
RNA 236J
- Daimler Fleetline More painting has commenced. The boot lid has
recieved it's top coat.Restoration Update -
19th September 2008
JHA 227L
- Leyland Leopard
Sadly, due to personal reasons, member, J
Sergeant has sold JHA 227L for further Preservation.
After many interested parties, the bus was sold to TBG member, P Emery.
Therefore the vehicle remains in the group collection for the meanwhile.
The bus was collected from Shropshire on 17th September 2008.
Hopefully the bus will be restored for Midland Red Celebrations at BaMMOT,
Wythall in October 2008.
Restoration Update -
6th September 2008
RNA 236J - Daimler Fleetline
The nearside has now recieved it Orange border. Another coat is required, however the bus looks complete (Offside anyway! haha)
Work is still commencing on the nearside. J Ellis has repaired the grill on the engine cover as it had started to rust. A undercoat of white has been applied, and hoping that when the weather brightens up the top Ivory Coat will be applied.
M Ellis cleaned the interior of 2236 on 6th September, ready for Trans-Lancs at Manchester on 7th September, where TBG will be advertising 40 years of the Mancunian with Balloons and Banners.
Restoration Update - 30th August 2008
RNA 236J - Daimler Fleetline
A top coat of Ivory has been applied to the offside, meaning that the only painting required is the
Orange on the bottom.
K Ellis and J Ellis have started the painting on the nearside.
By 25th August 2008, the nearside had been rubbed down, and was awaiting undercoat. The front Passenger doors had been painted into Ivory, and attention was required on the rear wheel arch.
PLEASE NOTE: These are the final pictures to be released until the morning of September 7th 2008.
Restoration Update - 17th August 2008
RNA 236J - Daimler Fleetline
K Ellis has continued with painting RNA 236J back into it original Greater Manchester livery.
The rear number plate was replaced by end of July.
Work commenced on painting the next white stage on the nearside. The window surrounds had been painted white by Crewe Rally on 3rd August 2008.
By 17th August 2008, the remaining 'previous orange' sections had been painted with white undercoat, and await for top coat of paint.
Restoration Update - 7th June 2008
RNA 236J - Daimler Fleetline
K Ellis added the top coat of white paint to the upper band on 10th May 2008.
One panel was missed at the rear because it requires rubbing down and new coat, and front corners remained unpainted, however distination Blind was painted.
Remainder of the front destination area recieved it top coat by 17th May 2008.
A panel at the rear required rubbing down and repainting. This panel was rubbed down, undercoated (x2) and Top coat was painted on 6th June 2008. K Ellis says another coat is really needed on the white band, but is looking better already.
Painting on the Orange Band below the white area has began. After rubbing down, primer and undercoat has been applied.
FAR 724K - Bedford VAL 70
Not much to report on. The vehicle is still currently off-road, and is waiting for minor welding on the off-side before panels can be replaced and coach returns to road.
JHA 227L - Leyland Leopard
Sadly, due to J Sergeant having a major operation, there has been no activity on JHA 227L recently.
Since leaving Hollyoakes, Shrewsbury last year re-wiring of the rear lights is currently underway.
Here are a couple of pictures of JHA 227L at Shrewsbury during 2006.
