EEH 902Y was new to Midland Red North (Fleet Number 1902) in 1983. The bus was based at Tamworth Depot, and was painted with the Green Mercian Band, which it is preserved in today.
1902 was in Class 6 PSV use until December 2008. the bus had been owned by several operators including Bennetts of Gloucester and Merchants of Cheltenham.
On the 13th December 2008, P Emery from Vals Classic Coaches part exchanged another ex-Midland Red Olympian, G918 LHA (1902) for EEH 902Y.
Shortly after arrival, work began on a few mechanical defects found during the return from Cheltenham to Rugeley. This included the loss of water. S Riley made several mechanical repairs to the engine.
Then the bus was prepared for painting. This task was undertaken by S Riley, Wag and D Howdle. All of the Merchants transfers were removed, odd panels were changed and all of the panels were rubbed down for painting.
The main bodywork task was to return the front grills to the original formation (As the above photo showed). The only problem was that the brackets behind were damaged/incorrectly positioned, causing difficulty for S Riley. Eventually this was rectified.
Repainted commenced over the weekend of 12-13th April 2009. This involved the painting of the green 'Mercian' stipe, and the repainting of the whole bus with Poppy Red.
The finishing touches was applied to EEH 902Y (i.e. Transfers, legal lettering, interior cleaning).
EEH 902Y made it's formal appearence at the Potteries Transport Event at Wedgewood Visitors Centre on 10th May 2009.
